Our FAQ:

Who are you looking for?

We are looking for a few high-achieving undergraduates from any major with a demonstrated interest in startups, technology, engineering, and finance. Successful applicants in former cycles have come from a variety of backgrounds and no experience is required to join.

Graduate students, please contact us directly via the website’s contact form expressing why you’re interested in Midway Ventures and your background. If we think it’s a good fit, we’ll connect with you individually.

When do you recruit?

We recruit a new class at the beginning of every Fall and Spring quarter.

How many people are you looking for?

Midway Ventures prides itself in fostering a close-knit community and collaborative culture. We have introduced two broader cohort groups that applicants can choose to apply for: Product and Strategy.

Each cycle, we typically accept between 5-6 new members per cohort group. All new members go through a specialized New Member Education trial period before becoming official members.

What sort of time commitment should I expect?

We expect a commitment of ~5-7 hours per week. All of our new-admitted members go through a quarter-long education training to understand the fundamentals of venture capital and working with a startup/VC firm.

What does the application process consist of?

There are three rounds, with invite only after the first round. The first round consists of a written application where you indicate your interest in a specific cohort (Product or Strategy).

The second round is an interview that includes both a behavioral and case study component. The third and final round is a group-based interview that includes a more traditional consulting case to assess your ability to think critically on the spot and work well within a team.

The behavioral is pretty standard—we’re just trying to get to know you and your interests in VC/tech/finance/consulting. For the case study, we’ll provide you information ahead of time.

How should I prepare for the recruitment process?

We encourage you to stay up-to-date with developments in venture capital & technology via techcrunch.com and crunchbase.com, as well as engage with the Polsky Centre’s programming and attend any events that interest you!
